Lad Koh View Point

4.5(4,046 reviews)

Perched on elevated ground in Bo Put, this combined viewpoint and shrine offers sweeping views across Koh Samui's coastline and out toward the open sea. The elevated position makes it a natural draw for photography, particularly in the evening when the light softens and the seascape takes on a different quality. Small shrines are scattered across the grounds, giving the site a quietly spiritual character that sets it apart from a purely scenic stop. Visitors can expect a relaxed, unhurried atmosphere with steps and ramps leading down toward the water, benches for sitting, and a small vendor selling drinks and snacks including coconut ice cream. The site suits a mix of travellers — those passing through the area on a broader island loop and those who choose to stay a while and take in the surroundings. It is worth noting that opinions on the views vary; some visitors find them breathtaking, while others consider it a pleasant but unremarkable stop best suited to those already in the area rather than a dedicated trip from elsewhere on the island. Good to know: No official opening hours are listed, so visiting during daylight hours is advisable. Parking on site is limited, so arriving early or during quieter periods helps. Comfortable footwear is recommended given the steps and uneven terrain, and sun protection is sensible in Thailand's strong UV conditions.

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours

Vet Elephant Sanctuaries

Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.

Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide

These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.

Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning

Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
