Koh Nang Yuan Viewpoint

Perched high above one of Thailand's most photographed seascapes, this viewpoint on Koh Nang Yuan offers sweeping panoramas of the island's famous triple-island formation connected by a natural white sand bar, with the turquoise waters of the Gulf of Thailand stretching out in every direction. Koh Nang Yuan itself is a small private island, and reaching the viewpoint requires arriving by boat — typically via a short transfer from Koh Tao's main piers. The island has a distinct, unhurried atmosphere, and the viewpoint sits above a functioning dive resort, meaning the surrounding area is relatively quiet and well-maintained. The sandbar and surrounding reef are also popular for snorkelling, making this an easy location to combine a scenic hike with time in the water. The viewpoint is open daily from 10:00 to 15:00, so visitors should plan their boat transfers accordingly and aim to arrive early to secure the best light and avoid the midday heat. Plastic bottles are banned on the island to protect the marine environment, so travellers should arrange to fill reusable containers before arrival. Wearing sturdy footwear is strongly recommended for the rocky trail up to the summit.
