We Cook Thai Home Garden Cooking School
Tucked into the Wat Ket neighbourhood of Chiang Mai, this home-based cooking school offers a genuinely personal introduction to Thai cuisine, led by owner Mam, whose warmth and humour are frequently highlighted by visitors. Unlike larger commercial operations, classes here are intimate by design, taking place in a home garden setting that reflects how Thai cooking traditions are actually lived and passed down. The experience goes beyond the kitchen — classes typically begin with a market visit to source fresh herbs and local ingredients before returning to cook a full spread of traditional Thai dishes together. The evening format (16:00 to 21:00, seven days a week) suits travellers who prefer to keep their days free for sightseeing. Visitors prepare multiple dishes and sit down to eat what they have cooked, making the session both a cooking lesson and a satisfying meal. The hands-on instruction is attentive throughout, with Mam guiding participants from ingredient selection through to plating in a relaxed, unhurried atmosphere. Good to know: Classes are bookable through the school's Facebook page, which is also the best place to confirm availability, check current class schedules, and flag any dietary requirements in advance. Mam offers pick-up for guests, so it is worth asking about this when making a booking. Wear comfortable clothing appropriate for cooking, and arrive ready to eat well.

Visitor Reviews
We had an absolutely wonderful experience, made even more special by the lovely owner, Mam, who was warm, welcoming, and attentive throughout our visit. Every dish we tried was incredible - bursting with flavor, beautifully prepared, and clearly made with care and high-quality ingredients. Each bite was a delight, and I can honestly say it was the best Thai food I have ever had in my life. The combination of amazing food, friendly service, and a welcoming atmosphere made this a truly memorable dining experience.
We had the best time with Mam at her house cooking traditional Thai dishes! She came and picked us up, then went to the market to pick up the ingredients, and went to the kitchen to cook lots of dishes and sat down to eat in the lovely outdoor garden area. I'd 10/10 recommend, Mam was so friendly and fun it was a great day!
We had the best best time cooking with mam!! She’s such a lovely, genuine and hilarious person making the whole experience so so much fun whilst still learning and cooking the most delicious food. I’ve done several cooking classes across SE Asia and elsewhere now and this is one of the best!! Must do in Chiang Mai!

Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
