Mama noi Thai Cookery School
Mama Noi Thai Cookery School offers a structured, hands-on introduction to Thai cooking in Chiang Mai, with classes running seven days a week from 9am to 8pm. Sessions begin with a guided visit to a local market, where instructors walk participants through fresh ingredients and explain their significance in Thai cuisine before moving into the kitchen. Participants choose three dishes to prepare during the class, giving the experience a degree of personalisation uncommon in group cooking formats. Instructors are consistently praised by visitors for being energetic, engaging, and encouraging, making the classes accessible to complete beginners while still offering enough depth to interest those with prior cooking experience. The atmosphere is relaxed and interactive rather than formal, with a level of individual attention that keeps the sessions genuinely educational. Hotel pick-up is included, removing a common logistical concern for travellers without their own transport in the city. Both morning and afternoon class options are available to suit different itineraries, but spaces fill quickly, particularly during peak travel periods. Booking in advance through the school's website is strongly recommended rather than relying on last-minute availability. Comfortable, casual clothing suitable for a kitchen environment is the practical choice for the session.

Visitor Reviews
This cooking school was a great experience overall. We really enjoyed the atmosphere, and the teacher was very kind, fun, and made the class engaging. The only downside was that she rushed us a bit at times, asking us to hurry, which made the experience feel less relaxed than we had hoped. We would have loved a little more time between dishes to eat and enjoy the food in a calmer way. That said, considering everything is done within about five hours, the pace is understandable. Hotel pickup and drop-off were included, we visited a local market, and we cooked five traditional Thai dishes. There was a good selection to choose from, with nine options in total, two of which were mandatory, so it suits most tastes. They also adapted very well to allergies, which was appreciated. The staff cleaned up quickly while we were eating, so there was no waiting around, and everything ran smoothly.
We found this through another site that gave it great reviews and I agree this is a great place to take a cooking class. Nook our chef was so great! Fun, interactive and personable. We got to go to the market first to get our supplies, then visited the organic garden at the school and then made three dishes!! Plus Thai tea and mango sticky rice!!! It was so fun! Our other guests were so fun to meet and get to know. They gave us to go boxes for leftovers and a cook book. I would definitely book a half day class. We did the morning which I think is best. Even provide pick up and drop off. Book here and you won’t be disappointed!
Highly recommend to visit this place if you have any interest of cooking thai food. I made a reservation just a day before but I was lucky to get my ticket for afternoon class. We made and learnt three dishes and is able to choose for one menu every categories (soup, stir-fired, curry) My teacher and co-students were so nice and good. I can say every moment in this class was so much fun and good. We didn't stop cooking and eating literally XD If I were in Chiang Mai someday, I would be here once again.
