Baan Farm Thai Cooking School is a family farm in Nong Jom, San Sai, north of Chiang Mai, where you cook with vegetables and herbs from the garden. Both classes start with a tour of a local market, where you taste the desserts and fruit, then a walk around the farm before you cook five dishes of your own choosing, one from each category plus a curry paste pounded by hand.
The morning class picks up between 08:45 and 09:00 and finishes around 13:00 to 13:30. The afternoon class picks up between 14:00 and 14:30 and finishes by 18:30. Either costs ฿1,000 a person, or ฿800 if you book with the school directly and pay in cash, and non-cooking guests pay ฿300. Pickup and drop-off are free in the Old City and Nimman, and other areas are on request.
Vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian and gluten-free versions are available, children are welcome, and you leave with a recipe book and the class photos. Private classes cost ฿5,500 for up to four people, and a northern Lanna class starts at ฿3,000 a person. Payment is cash or Alipay, and cancellations get a full refund up to 24 hours ahead.
