Why go, and how to do it well

Three hundred metres of wooden boardwalk doesn't sound like much of a walk, and it isn't. What makes it worth your time is what grows either side of it: a mossy evergreen cloud forest that exists in very few places in Thailand, cool and misty year round, with Sphagnum moss, ferns, lichens, rare orchids and birds that draw people back season after season. Most people take 30 to 60 minutes, and you should, because rushing it defeats the point.

There's a memorial down a set of steps on the route, connected to a royal helicopter crash in the area. Worth knowing before you go, since one reviewer clearly turned up expecting a hike and came away calling it boring. It isn't a hike. It's a slow look at an unusual bit of forest, and if plants and birds don't interest you, half an hour is all you'll want.

This short walking trail (approximately 300–320 meters) offers visitors a chance to explore Thailand’s highest montane peat swamp forest (tropical evergreen forest). The path is lined with mosses and ferns throughout, with cool, refreshing air all year round. This is a very well maintained straight forward trail. My personal opinion, Ang Ka Trail is more likely originally made to be a memorial for a prince, who's also an Air Marshall that died during a helicopter crash while he was surveying this area years ago. There's a well maintained wooden stairs down to his memorial. However it slowly developed into today's bird watching area, This is therefore a super boring trail. So boring that I forgotten to take photos along the way except a mosses covered tree. However for bird enthusiasts, there's quite a number of birds around here. If you are a serious tracker, you should give this a miss. Be foretold.

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours

Book Popular Activities Online

Booking platforms like GetYourGuide give you instant confirmation and, on many activities, free cancellation — and you can read recent reviews before committing. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.

Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning

Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.

Check Operator Safety Records

For adventure activities (zip-lining, bungee jumping, diving), check recent reviews specifically mentioning equipment condition and safety briefings. Thailand's regulation varies — reputable operators will have insurance and certified guides.
