MANTRA FOREST SPA

4.5(438 reviews)

Set in the forested landscapes of Takua Thung district in Phang-nga province, just outside Phuket, Mantra Forest Spa offers a wellness experience centred around its beautifully designed, authentically Thai grounds. The expansive property features a variety of pools, hot saunas, and an ice plunge barrel, all arranged within a natural setting that feels genuinely removed from the busier resort areas of the region. A water lily spot on the grounds is a particular highlight, and a restaurant on site serves food that visitors have found enjoyable. The atmosphere leans heavily into relaxation and natural beauty, with the forested surroundings and traditional Thai architectural styling giving the place a distinctive character. The facility caters to both drop-in visitors and those looking to spend a full day on the grounds, making it well-suited to travellers who want more than a brief treatment appointment. A practical consideration worth noting: the spa attracts tour groups, particularly around midday, which can make the pools and facilities feel overcrowded during peak hours. Visitors who prefer a quieter experience are better served by arriving early in the morning or later in the evening. As the spa does not list a website or confirmed opening hours in public directories, it is advisable to contact your accommodation for booking assistance or to confirm hours before making the trip, especially given the location requires planned transportation from central Phuket.

Super place, went there few times, can spend there the whole day however it was a lot of package tourist, that were brought there for 2 or 3 hour, mostly during lunch time so it was overcrowded. But you can find the calm space anyway. The cafe was Russian food, first my visit everything was amazing at cafe, my 2nd visit we have waited for order items over 40 min, its too long but we just tried to enjoy the moment (even hungry). Different hot tubs, swimming pool are super gorgeous, enjoyed all

Really enjoyed this spa 🌿 Beautiful, big territory with super relaxing vibe. Hot saunas, comfortable pools and the ice plunge barrel is such a cool idea, feels amazing after the heat. And the photo spots 😍 girls, you definitely need to come here ! Only downside - quite crowded so not always quiet. Still had a great time and would come back!

Beautiful and charming Thai-style spa – but best to visit before the crowds arrive This is a wonderful place with lots of charm and heart, beautifully designed in authentic Thai style. Everything is clean, well maintained, and the different pools are fantastic. We spent the whole day there, from noon until closing. In the beginning, it was pleasantly busy, but thanks to the spacious layout, it didn’t feel crowded. However, around 3 p.m. several buses with tourists arrived, and it suddenly became packed. The small round hot pools were completely full, and we had to wait to use them. It rained all day, and unfortunately, there are no covered lounge areas—only umbrellas—so there was nowhere dry to relax after the sauna. The only sheltered seating is near the reception and restaurant, which isn’t really suitable for resting between sauna sessions. As someone who wears glasses, I would have appreciated a small shelf or safe spot near the pools to place them, as well as some hooks to hang towels instead of putting them on the wet ground—especially on a rainy day. The toilet and changing area could also use some improvement: there are only two showers and also too few changing cabins, so towards closing time, it caused some waiting time. I also wish some of the (mostly Russian) visitors showed a bit more respect for others. One woman simply occupied my changing cabin while my things were still inside. In the sauna, loud talking was common, which ruined the relaxing atmosphere. A sauna should be a quiet place to unwind. When the buses arrived, some families with children came too, and I think the management should encourage parents to keep them calm—this is a spa, not a playground. All in all, it’s a truly beautiful place, and I’ll definitely come back—but only in the morning or early afternoon, before the crowds arrive, and certainly not during high season, since it was already very busy even in the low season.

Tips for Visiting Wellness & Spas

Learn Wat Pho First

Wat Pho in Bangkok is the birthplace of traditional Thai massage education. Their on-site massage pavilion offers excellent treatments from students and graduates at reasonable prices — and you know the technique is authentic.

Communicate Pressure Preferences

Thai massage can be intense. Say 'bao bao' for lighter pressure or 'nак nак' for harder. A good therapist will check in, but don't hesitate to speak up — suffering in silence defeats the purpose.

Book Longer Sessions

A 60-minute massage is fine, but 90 or 120 minutes allows the therapist to work thoroughly. The price difference is often only 200–400 THB for an extra hour — worth it for a deeper, more relaxing experience.
