Anahata

4.4(132 reviews)

Anahata is a beachfront resort and wellness retreat tucked away in the quieter Lipanoi area on Koh Samui's west coast. Sitting directly by the sea, the property draws guests who are after a genuinely relaxed pace rather than the busier energy of the island's main tourist strips. Spacious villas and cottages, a beautiful beach setting, and attentive staff are the details visitors consistently highlight, with many arriving for a night or two and extending their stay considerably longer. Guests can expect clean, comfortable accommodation ranging from rooms to two-bedroom villas, along with beach access, a solid breakfast selection, and fresh smoothies and juices that regulars particularly enjoy. The atmosphere leans calm and unhurried, making it well suited to families travelling with children as well as couples seeking a low-key retreat. Some areas of the property carry an older, more rustic character, though reviewers generally regard this as part of its charm rather than a drawback. Good to know: Lipanoi sits on the less-developed western side of Koh Samui, away from the main roads and tourist hubs, so arranging transport in advance is worthwhile. Renting a scooter or organising a taxi through the resort will make getting around straightforward. As specific pricing and opening details are not listed online, contacting Anahata directly before arrival is recommended, especially for longer stays or if travelling during the busier December to February high season.

Visitor Reviews

I think the best time to write a review is a few weeks after the happening. It allows one to settle into a normal daily routine which highlights all things magical even more. Needless to say, MAGICAL is exactly the word that pops to mind when thinking of Anahata Resort. First, let's talk about people. Our fearless leader/organizer Annabel was more than just a program coordinator, she helped with all things imaginable, including friendly chats, tweaks to events and appointments, and her constant reassuring presence. No question was too strange, no request impossible. The other person of note was Simon, the Reiki master extraordinaire. Never before have I been taken to such colourful journeys! The Reiki sessions left me floating an inch above ground, feeling light as a feather, without a worry in the world, and loving everyone and everything in equal measure. This, if I may, should be an integral part of your visit to Anahata. And then there were the incredible masseuses, the always helpful and kind restaurant staff, the knowledgeable and wise tea ceremony master, the fit and fabulous personal trainer (careful, ladies - bring a bib), the amazing and ageless aqua-fit trainer and a myriad of talented yoga teachers. I felt pampered, cared for, heard and cherished, every step of the way. As for the surroundings ... I am an early riser and found myself on the water's edge very early in the morning, before the sunrise, often greeted by the resident voluntary guards (three fabulous doggies) who checked me out to make sure I was "one of the pack". Once satisfied, they remained by my side. Possibly to protect from, erm, not sure whom. This place was safe as houses. The morning colours - pinks and purples, took my breath away. As did the sunset fireworks. The water was clean and inviting, sand warm and cosy, long walks along the shore an absolute must. The food was delicious, juices freshly made, and coconuts were always on a standby. Rooms were roomy (hah), well air-conditioned, WiFi worked. Cannot say anything about the TV. In my 2 weeks there, it never occurred to me to turn it on. In short - I loved every minute of it and cannot wait to return!

We absolutely loved our stay at Anahata Resort. The staff was friendly and responsive. The room was comfortable and the view was just amazing. We stayed in a 2-bedroom villa which just so happened to be right on the beach. It was perfect for our family of four. You can tell that the villa is a bit old and some of it has been neglected as the windows in the villa didn't open and close well due to having rusty parts from the salty location but this may be why the price is so affordable. Honestly, everything we needed was available at Anahata. It was peaceful and beautiful. There was something for everyone. The breakfast was great with options for meat eaters and vegans alike. There were healthy juices and smoothies and delicious cocktails. This was definitely one of our top Thailand beach experiences (having lived in the country for 10 years). Would love to come back.

Anahata! What a wonderful place to stay at. We planned on staying 2 nights, and it ended up to be a week. The staff was kind, the amenities were great, spacious rooms, sufficient selection in breakfast (with fresh coffee!). We enjoyed every activity which they offered: muay tai and yoga lessons, paddling board and kayak, sauna, well equipped gym and 2 pools. Best in my opinion for couples who seek a quiet place in the island. Thank you Rey and all the kind people we met.

Tips for Visiting Wellness & Spas

Learn Wat Pho First

Wat Pho in Bangkok is the birthplace of traditional Thai massage education. Their on-site massage pavilion offers excellent treatments from students and graduates at reasonable prices — and you know the technique is authentic.

Communicate Pressure Preferences

Thai massage can be intense. Say 'bao bao' for lighter pressure or 'nак nак' for harder. A good therapist will check in, but don't hesitate to speak up — suffering in silence defeats the purpose.

Book Longer Sessions

A 60-minute massage is fine, but 90 or 120 minutes allows the therapist to work thoroughly. The price difference is often only 200–400 THB for an extra hour — worth it for a deeper, more relaxing experience.
