Bodhidhammayan Retreat Saraburi | โพธิธรรมญาณสถาน สระบุรี
Nestled at the foot of Khao Phra Phutthbat Noi, a site of genuine Buddhist significance in Saraburi Province, this retreat centre offers structured meditation programs rooted in authentic Dhamma teaching rather than commercialised wellness tourism. The flagship Anapanasati (mindfulness of breathing) course runs over several days and draws both Thai and international visitors seeking a serious, grounded introduction to Buddhist meditation practice. The natural surroundings — forested hills and a quietly sacred atmosphere — reinforce the contemplative purpose of the programs on offer. Visitors consistently describe the experience as deeply transformative and welcoming to foreigners, with courses designed to be accessible regardless of prior meditation experience. The environment is calm and unhurried, with an emphasis on inner work and genuine Dhamma instruction. Accommodation on-site is simple and functional, reflecting the retreat's focus on practice over comfort. Those expecting a luxury spa will find something quite different here — and reviewers suggest that is very much the point. Good to know: The retreat is located in a relatively remote area of Saraburi, so arranging private transport in advance is strongly recommended, as public options are limited. Courses are structured programs with set schedules, not drop-in sessions, so contacting the retreat ahead of time to confirm availability, course dates, and any requirements is essential before making the journey. Modest clothing is appropriate throughout the stay.

Visitor Reviews
I’m still in awe after this experience. The Anapanasati (Journey to the mind) course was the perfect choice within my trip to Thailand. Only 3 days, with such a profound impact. I left the (btw beautiful) place feeling light like a feather, happy, fulfilled. If you’re looking for a serious meditation experience, this is definitely the place. It’s a silent retreat, all the focus go into the practice. Nevertheless they offer very comfortable accommodation and delicious vegetarian meals. We can see how much love is put into everything they do, how the place and the people are taken care of, it all just adds up to an incredible experience. When I come back to Thailand, I’m coming back to Bodhidhammayan retreat 😌✨
To anyone who is still deciding, please don't hesitate or doubt-come and experience this place for yourself. It is incredibly peaceful, both in the people and the surroundings. From the very first visit, I could feel a positive energy. When I began the practice, I received uplifting energy from the teacher. Some of the activities brought tears to my eyes-not from sadness, but from pride in myself for having brought myself here. They were tears of gratitude and deep appreciation for the teachings. I truly wish everyone could experience what true inner happiness feels like. Lastly, I would like to send positive energy to all readers. May you all find happiness within yourselves.
It’s been almost a year since I attended the 4-day Anapanasati course at Bodhidammayan retreat, and the profound impact of the experience still resonates with me today. As a foreigner, I felt incredibly welcomed, the instructions and discourses provided in English were invaluable in helping me. Vegetarian meals were provided and the accommodation in beautiful surrounds exceeded my expectations. A heartfelt thank you to the staff, volunteers, monks, and nuns, and especially Master Acharavadee, for creating and maintaining such a serene and beautiful space for spiritual practice. I am deeply grateful for this experience.
Tips for Visiting Wellness & Spas
Learn Wat Pho First
Wat Pho in Bangkok is the birthplace of traditional Thai massage education. Their on-site massage pavilion offers excellent treatments from students and graduates at reasonable prices — and you know the technique is authentic.
Communicate Pressure Preferences
Thai massage can be intense. Say 'bao bao' for lighter pressure or 'nак nак' for harder. A good therapist will check in, but don't hesitate to speak up — suffering in silence defeats the purpose.
Book Longer Sessions
A 60-minute massage is fine, but 90 or 120 minutes allows the therapist to work thoroughly. The price difference is often only 200–400 THB for an extra hour — worth it for a deeper, more relaxing experience.
