Taboo Tapas Wine & Lounge Bar - Hua Hin
This tapas bar and wine lounge brings a Mediterranean touch to Hua Hin's dining scene, standing out with its combination of Spanish-style small plates, a well-considered wine list, and craft cocktails served in a setting that feels both relaxed and polished. The attention to presentation is a recurring theme among visitors, with dishes arriving visually striking and consistently well-executed in flavour. The atmosphere leans toward cosy and intimate without feeling stiff, making it a comfortable choice for couples, small groups, or solo diners happy to settle in with a drink. Staff are noted for being friendly, attentive, and quick without making guests feel rushed — a balance that suits the tapas format well. The menu caters to vegetarians and those who enjoy sharing plates across a long, unhurried evening. Card payments are accepted, which is a practical convenience in a city where cash-only venues are still common. Taboo opens daily from noon through to 11 PM, giving visitors flexibility for a leisurely lunch, an afternoon wine stop, or a full evening out. Those new to tapas dining should keep in mind that portions are intentionally small and designed for sharing, so ordering several dishes across the table is the intended approach. Booking ahead or arriving early in the evening is worth considering, as the combination of quality food, strong service, and a pleasant atmosphere means tables fill up.

Absolutely Loved Taboo Tapas! I had such a great experience at Taboo Tapas. The atmosphere is cozy yet stylish, with a warm, welcoming vibe. Every dish we tried was full of flavor. The cocktails were also amazing—creative and well-balanced. Staff were super friendly and attentive without being overbearing. It’s a perfect place for a relaxed evening with great food and drinks. Highly recommend!
The food is good, the portions are not big, but sufficient. Staff is friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is very nice. Cards are accepted which is nice. Quesadillas with chicken and tsadziki with pita was tasty, pork was a bit dry. Crème brûlée was amazing!

Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
