Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Hua Hin

4.7(3,535 reviews)

Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Hua Hin is a landmark property on the Gulf of Thailand coast, housed in a striking colonial-style building with gleaming white facades and dark mahogany detailing that give it a distinctly classic elegance. Originally built in the 1920s as a royal retreat, the resort sits directly on the beach in Hua Hin and operates around the clock, making it a fitting base for both leisure travellers and those passing through on longer itineraries. Guests have access to four swimming pools, a full-service spa, a gym, and multiple dining options on-site, with complimentary breakfast included. The resort also welcomes day visitors through pool day passes, which have received strong praise for the quality of poolside service, the well-maintained grounds, and the attentive staff. Special occasion dining — including Valentine's dinners and afternoon tea — is a recurring highlight in visitor feedback, with the grand interior adding to the atmosphere of these experiences. Practical note: the resort is currently undergoing significant renovation works on either side of the main building, with construction scheduled to continue until 2027. Daytime noise from building activity is a factor worth considering when planning a stay. Those seeking a quieter experience may prefer to visit for evening dining or afternoon tea rather than an extended daytime stay during this period. Booking directly through the resort's website is recommended for the most current information on available facilities.

Afternoon tea at the Centara Grand in Hua Hin was a real treat. The building itself is magnificent. Freshly painted white walls gleaming in the afternoon sun, set against dark polished mahogany doors and staircases. Walking up the sweeping drive you already feel you’re somewhere special, and inside it’s just as elegant. Although my online booking hadn’t filtered through, it wasn’t an issue. Staff were welcoming and unflustered and we were shown to a shaded patio overlooking the pool, watched over by a line of rather splendid grey elephant statues. We chose to share the set afternoon tea as it looked generous and it certainly was. It arrived in an unusual dark wooden presentation box with drawers at either end, each neatly filled with savouries and dainty handmade cakes. A clever touch and nicely done. Everything was fresh and well prepared, and we rounded it off properly with scones, strawberry jam and whipped cream, plus a glass of Prosecco for good measure. We lingered for a couple of hours, sipping tea in the sunshine and enjoying the calm, refined atmosphere. It felt indulgent without being stuffy. If you’re in Hua Hin and fancy a civilised couple of hours in elegant surroundings, this is a very good way to spend them.

We stayed here for 5 days at the end of a Far East tour and it was by far the best hotel of our stay. The staff are very friendly and efficient, the surroundings superb. The hotel is undergoing refurbishment but they are managing it well by doing one wing at a time and minimising noise before 10.00 and after 5.00 We scored only 4 on accommodation as we stayed in a wing that has not yet been refurbished and the rooms are very dark. However we did check out the refurbished rooms and these are excellent. Many people comment that they see this hotel as a second home and keep returning - well, we will certainly be back.

We only did a day pass. We have guest in town and it was perfect. Incredible service at the pool, and a wonderful pool. Beautiful grounds, great lounge chairs, good food and all employees were extremely kind and helpful.

Tips for Visiting Hotels & Resorts

Book Shoulder Season

May–June and September–October offer dramatic discounts (30–50% off peak rates) with fewer crowds. Weather is mixed but rarely a washout — afternoon showers clear quickly.

Compare OTAs and Direct Rates

Always check the hotel's own website after finding a rate on Agoda or Booking.com. Many Thai properties offer a best-rate guarantee or throw in perks like free breakfast when you book direct.

Pool Villa Doesn't Mean Expensive

Private pool villas in Krabi, Hua Hin, and Chiang Mai start around 2,500–4,000 THB/night — a fraction of Bali or Maldives prices. Search specifically for 'pool villa' to surface hidden gems.
