Van Vliet Hostel Ayutthaya
Positioned in Tambon Pratuchai within Ayutthaya's historic core, this hostel serves as a practical and sociable base for exploring one of Thailand's most significant ancient capitals. The property sits within easy reach of the old city's major temple complexes, including Wat Mahathat and Wat Phra Si Sanphet, as well as a night market within walking distance — a combination that suits travellers who want convenience without sacrificing atmosphere. Rooms and common areas are reported by guests as clean and well air-conditioned, and the hostel offers bicycle rentals at 60 baht per day — a popular and practical way to navigate Ayutthaya's spread-out ruins. Staff are noted for being welcoming, and the property has offered complimentary food during morning hours, though this may vary by season. As with most hostels, light sleepers should note that noise can carry between floors, particularly when the property is busy with group travellers. Good to know: Ayutthaya is best explored between November and February when cooler temperatures make outdoor temple visits more comfortable. The hostel's location allows most major sites to be reached by bicycle, tuk-tuk, or organised tours. Budget accommodation in Ayutthaya fills quickly during peak season in December and January, so advance booking is recommended. Modest dress is required when entering active temple grounds throughout the area.

Visitor Reviews
Great little hostel hotel close to the large park with many of the old temple historical sites. There's an awesome night market in walking distance. Close to many cool little places. Enjoyed our stay so much, we booked a second night there
Fantastic place to hire bikes 60bht for the day. Very kind staff. Got chilled water once returned bikes. Bikes were great condition too. Didn't stay overnight but looks clean and new. So would stay here next time I visit.
These days they seem to have no include breakfast but they had free food between 8:00 and 12:00 - I'm very grateful that I had some sort of breakfast in the morning
Tips for Visiting Hotels & Resorts
Book Shoulder Season
May–June and September–October offer dramatic discounts (30–50% off peak rates) with fewer crowds. Weather is mixed but rarely a washout — afternoon showers clear quickly.
Compare OTAs and Direct Rates
Always check the hotel's own website after finding a rate on Agoda or Booking.com. Many Thai properties offer a best-rate guarantee or throw in perks like free breakfast when you book direct.
Pool Villa Doesn't Mean Expensive
Private pool villas in Krabi, Hua Hin, and Chiang Mai start around 2,500–4,000 THB/night — a fraction of Bali or Maldives prices. Search specifically for 'pool villa' to surface hidden gems.
