Why go, and how to do it well

Pranburi Beach is where people go when Hua Hin's town beach feels too busy. It's about 30 km south, a wide stretch of sand with low-rise resorts behind it and very little else, and six of the Hua Hin beach guides I checked include it.

The guides describe the water as cleaner than the central strip and the waves as gentle, and there's no promenade, no horse rides and few vendors. Khao Kalok, the hill at the south end, gives the beach its backdrop and a smaller cove of its own.
