Thong Sala is where you land, where you catch the ferry, and where you end up sorting out your SIM card and your scooter. It's also where you'll find one of the more serious massage places on Koh Phangan. This is proper traditional Thai work rather than the ten-minute foot rub you get on a plastic chair by the pier, and the difference shows in how people talk about it.
I'd use it for two things. One, after a long travel day, when your back has been folded into a minivan and then a boat. Two, the morning after a heavy night out, which on this island is most mornings. Doors open at 10:00 and stay open until 22:00, every day, so a late session after dinner is easy to arrange.
Wear something loose if you're going for the traditional Thai treatment. You'll be stretched, pushed and folded, and jeans make that miserable for everyone involved.
