Sutthisan MRT Station
This is a commuter station, plain and simple. It sits on the MRT Blue Line along Thanon Ratchadaphisek in Samsen Nok, Huai Khwang, in a stretch of the city that's mostly flats, offices and shophouses rather than anything you'd travel across town to see. If you're staying nearby, it's your way into the rest of the network. If you're not, you'll probably pass through it without looking up.
The basics are all here and they work: air conditioning, staff on hand, ticket machines with multiple languages so you're not guessing your way through your first ride. Lifts run from street level to the platforms, so it's manageable with luggage or a wheelchair. Trains come often enough that I wouldn't bother timing my arrival, roughly from around 6am to midnight.

Take the Sleeper Train at Least Once
The Bangkok-to-Chiang Mai overnight train in a second-class sleeper berth is a bucket-list experience. Book at least a week ahead via 12Go.asia or at Hua Lamphong station. Upper berths are cheaper and have more headroom; lower berths have a window.
