Why go, and how to do it well
You're paying partly for the water here, and it's worth knowing that going in. The tables outside sit right by the river, there's an air-conditioned room indoors if the heat has beaten you, and the kitchen leans on river fish and seafood alongside the Thai standards like pad kra pao, green curry and som tum. Prawns come in for criticism on size versus price, and rice isn't included with dishes, so order it separately.
Opinions split. Plenty of people rate the seafood and the curries highly and call the prices fair. Others have found the food flat and the service brisk without warmth, and one group waited over an hour during peak season for a meal they didn't rate. I think this works best as a mid-afternoon or early evening stop when you're already doing the temples and want somewhere with a proper sense of place, rather than as a destination dinner you've built the day around. If the river isn't the point of your visit, eat elsewhere in town.

Saithong River Restaurant...Located in Ayuthaya City...next to the river 1st time in this restaurant with my wife's family........If you want great Thai food ,and especially river fish or even sea fish,this is your PLACE.....Has indoor(with a/c) area and outdoor area(near the river ).........The food is Delicious......the prices normal...the service great....it is recommended

⭐☆☆☆☆ This restaurant was very terrible. The food was not tasty at all, and the service was also very bad. The waiting time was extremely long. I understand that it was peak season, but we waited over one hour, and I was dining with older people, which made it very uncomfortable. The crab fried rice smelled bad, and the taste was not good. The other dishes were also disappointing. We spent 800 baht, and it was not worth the money at all. I am very disappointed and will never come back again.
