สวนอาหารไทรทองริเวอร์ Saithongriver Restaurant
Situated along the riverbank in Ayutthaya's Pratuchai district, this mid-range Thai restaurant draws visitors with its waterfront setting and a menu centred on river fish, seafood, and Thai staples. The riverside position provides a scenic backdrop that many diners find enhances the overall experience, particularly when seated outdoors near the water. The kitchen covers a broad range of Thai classics — pad kra pao, green curry, som tum, and various fish and seafood preparations feature prominently based on visitor accounts. Portions and flavours generally satisfy those seeking authentic regional cooking, though experiences with service and wait times have been mixed, particularly during busier periods. The combination of river views and familiar Thai dishes makes it a reasonable lunch or dinner stop for travellers already exploring Ayutthaya's historic sites nearby. Good to know: The restaurant opens daily from 10:00 to 22:00, so it accommodates both lunch and dinner without any weekly closures. Visitors travelling during peak tourist seasons have noted longer wait times, so arriving mid-afternoon or booking ahead where possible is advisable. No website is listed, so walk-ins appear to be the standard approach. Pricing sits at a mid-range level, which aligns with the riverside setting and the broader menu selection.

Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
