Mong Bar is a reggae-style beach bar at the corner of Charlie Beach on Koh Mook's west coast, and the best-loved place on the island to watch the sun go down. It serves cocktails, beer, fruit shakes and Thai food, and its sunbeds and umbrellas are free when you order.
It's open 08:00–20:00, so think afternoon swim and sunset drinks rather than a late night, and in a busy spell a plate of fried rice can take a while. Koh Mook is a mostly Muslim island with very little nightlife, and Mong Bar is about as lively as it gets, which is the appeal. The kayaks for the Emerald Cave rent from the same beach.
