Sam Sam Bar
Tucked away near the Hilton Hotel in Hua Hin, Sam Sam Bar is a casual neighbourhood cocktail bar that draws a genuine mix of locals and travellers looking for an unpretentious night out. It has recently moved to a larger premises, giving it more room without losing the relaxed, community-driven character that regulars appreciate. Notably, the bar operates without bar girls, which many visitors call out positively as part of what makes it a comfortable place to spend an evening. Inside, guests find a pool table, lounge sofas for groups, and smaller tables for pairs — making it equally suited to a quiet catch-up or a livelier session with friends. The DJ and disco music keep energy levels up without tipping into full nightclub territory. Cocktails are reasonably priced at around 200 baht, and the bar runs buy-one-get-one offers for early arrivals, so it rewards those who show up closer to opening time. Staff are consistently described as friendly and welcoming. Good to know: Sam Sam Bar opens every night of the week at 7 PM and closes at midnight, so hours are easy to plan around. Note that despite some listings suggesting otherwise, the bar does not currently offer shisha. Dress casually — this is a neighbourhood spot, not a dressed-up venue — and consider arriving early to take advantage of the drink promotions. Find them on Facebook for any updates before visiting.

Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
