Chalui Cafe
Chalui Cafe is a popular bar and live music venue sitting along the Lampang-Chiang Mai Superhighway in the Chang Phueak area, drawing a young, energetic crowd looking for a proper night out beyond the tourist centre. With up to four live bands and two DJs performing on any given night, it operates more like an entertainment complex than a simple bar, and the quality sound setup makes the music a genuine highlight rather than background noise. Visitors can expect a vibrant, social atmosphere with a full drinks menu that includes special cocktails alongside standard options. Food is also available on site, rounding out the experience for those who want to eat and drink in one place. Staff consistently receive praise for being professional, friendly, and attentive, and the venue maintains clean facilities throughout. Reviews note the drinks can lean on the pricier side compared to typical Chiang Mai nightlife, so it is worth budgeting accordingly. Good to know: Chalui Cafe sits on the superhighway rather than in the walkable city centre, so having access to a taxi, Grab, or personal transport is essentially a requirement. Opening hours are not listed online, so confirming times before heading out is a smart move, particularly on quieter weeknights. The venue tends to draw its liveliest crowd during peak evening hours when the full lineup of bands and DJs is performing.

Great special cocktails and a good vibe to party and celebrate with friends! Live music with a band. Pricy but fun. Staff are super professional and friendly and helpful. Nice clean bathrooms. Drinks were well made and finger food was decent.

Tips for Visiting Nightlife & Bars
Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
