March Samui Resort
Situated in the quieter Mae Nam district on Koh Samui's northern coast, this resort offers a laid-back alternative to the island's busier southern beaches. The property sits opposite a generous stretch of beach and features a clean outdoor pool, private room terraces, and daily housekeeping. Extras such as moped rental and on-site Muay Thai sessions give guests practical ways to explore the island and engage with local culture without venturing far from the property. Rooms include air conditioning, in-room safes, and large bathrooms, with a cheap supermarket conveniently located nearby. The surrounding Mae Nam area is known for its calm atmosphere, beautiful sunsets, and proximity to quality local restaurants, making it a reasonable base for travellers who prefer tranquillity over the bustle of Chaweng or Lamai. Good to know: Prospective guests should approach booking with some caution. Reviews mention mixed experiences, including issues with soundproofing between rooms, mosquitoes, and at least one reported case of a booking being cancelled without prior notice. It is strongly advised to confirm reservations directly with the resort before arrival and to clarify cancellation policies in advance. Mae Nam is well-served by songthaews (shared taxis), so reaching other parts of Koh Samui remains straightforward regardless of where you stay. Check the resort's website for current availability and seasonal pricing before committing.

Comfy bed. big bathroom. opposite a lovely big beach. The pool is so nice! all rooms had a terrace outside that was very private. staff were lovely. they offer moped rental and Muay Thai sessions
Rooms were 2* at best and we had to keep asking for items most days. Such a shame as it's in a great position with beautiful restaurants and the most spectacular sunsets
Tips for Visiting Hotels & Resorts
Book Shoulder Season
May–June and September–October offer dramatic discounts (30–50% off peak rates) with fewer crowds. Weather is mixed but rarely a washout — afternoon showers clear quickly.
Compare OTAs and Direct Rates
Always check the hotel's own website after finding a rate on Agoda or Booking.com. Many Thai properties offer a best-rate guarantee or throw in perks like free breakfast when you book direct.
Pool Villa Doesn't Mean Expensive
Private pool villas in Krabi, Hua Hin, and Chiang Mai start around 2,500–4,000 THB/night — a fraction of Bali or Maldives prices. Search specifically for 'pool villa' to surface hidden gems.
