Practical guide

Singapore to Phuket

Two hours in the air, and an hour back on the clock

By Mac Kiley · 9 min read · Updated Oct 30, 2026

Singapore to Phuket is a nonstop flight of 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours 5 minutes from Changi, and Phuket is an hour behind Singapore, so a plane that leaves at 08:15 lands at 09:15 local time. Two airlines fly it every day. Singapore Airlines runs five or six flights and Scoot three, about eight or nine in all, with Thai Lion Air adding a few a week in some months. Jetstar Asia shut down in July 2025 and Thai AirAsia dropped its nonstop the same year, so a Thai AirAsia or Malaysia Airlines result on a booking site is a connection through Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur.

The choice that matters is the bag. Scoot's economy fare includes 10 kg of cabin baggage and no checked bag, while every Singapore Airlines economy fare includes one. I'd book the nonstop that fits my luggage and my landing time, and skip anything with a change. There's no train, bus or ferry that does this trip in less than a day, and below I explain the two that come close to making sense.

The short answer

Fly nonstop from Changi. Singapore Airlines and Scoot fly Singapore to Phuket about eight or nine times a day, 1h45–2h05 in the air, and you land an hour earlier on the clock because Phuket is an hour behind. Scoot's economy fare has no checked bag, Singapore Airlines' does. From Phuket airport, Patong is about 50 minutes by car or ฿100 on the Smart Bus.

Key Facts

About eight or nine nonstop flights a day

Singapore Airlines flies five or six a day and Scoot three. Thai Lion Air started a four-a-week flight in January 2026, paused it in May and has been running it in some weeks since, so check it's on your date.

Phuket is one hour behind Singapore

The flight takes 1h45–2h05, but the clock moves back an hour, so you land about an hour after you took off by local time. Coming back, the flight is 2h05–2h35 and you lose the hour.

Scoot's fare doesn't include a checked bag

Economy on Scoot includes two cabin pieces up to 10 kg in total, and a checked bag is a 20–40 kg add-on. Every Singapore Airlines economy fare includes a checked bag, 25 kg on the cheapest fares.

Jetstar Asia and the Thai AirAsia nonstop are gone

Jetstar Asia stopped flying on 31 July 2025, and Thai AirAsia's last nonstop to Phuket ran in March 2025. Their flights on booking sites now change in Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur.

File the TDAC before you land

Thailand's Digital Arrival Card is free and required for every entry, filed within three days before arrival. Singapore passports get 30 days without a visa.

Patong is about 50 minutes from the airport

A metered taxi is ฿700–800 with the airport fee, the fixed-fare counter ฿800, and the Smart Bus ฿100, every 30 minutes until 23:30. Khao Lak is 80 to 100 minutes north for ฿1,800 at the counter.

Which Nonstop to Book

Singapore Airlines or Scoot, and why the bag decides it

Singapore Airlines flies to Phuket five or six times a day, from early morning to evening. SQ726, for one, leaves at 08:15 and lands at 09:15 Phuket time. Scoot, its low-cost sister, adds three a day. Between them that's about 61 nonstop departures a week, and Thai Lion Air has flown four flights a week on the route since January 2026, though it stopped for most of May and was scheduled back at reduced frequency, so I'd treat it as a bonus if it shows up on your date.

The bag is what separates them. Scoot's economy fare lets you bring two cabin pieces, a bag up to 54 × 38 × 23 cm and a personal item up to 40 × 30 × 10 cm, together no more than 10 kg, and includes no checked bag. You buy 20 to 40 kg at booking, and a cabin bag over the limit at the airport gets checked in, possibly with excess baggage fees. Every Singapore Airlines economy fare includes a checked bag, 25 kg on the cheapest fares. With a carry-on, I'd take whichever nonstop is cheapest. With a suitcase, I'd price Scoot with the bag added before deciding, because the gap often closes.

Skip the Connections Through Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur

Search Singapore to Phuket on a booking site and you'll see Thai AirAsia, Malaysia Airlines and Batik Air alongside the two nonstop airlines. None of them flies the route direct. Thai AirAsia's own nonstop ended in March 2025, and Jetstar Asia, which used to fly it too, closed in July 2025. Their itineraries change planes in Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur, and on 12Go's flight board the self-connect versions take 6 hours 50 minutes to more than 10 hours.

A self-connect ticket is two separate bookings. If the first flight is late, the second airline doesn't have to wait, and Scoot's own rules say that on separate bookings you collect your bag, clear immigration and check in again. I'd only route through Bangkok if I were spending a few days there first, and our Bangkok to Phuket guide covers the domestic flights for that.

Landing at Phuket Airport

Immigration, then Patong, Kata, Khao Lak or the Phi Phi ferry

File your Thailand Digital Arrival Card before you fly. It's free at tdac.immigration.go.th, required for every foreign arrival including Singaporeans, and can be filed up to three days ahead. Singapore passports are stamped in for 30 days without a visa. Our Thailand visa guide covers other passports, and the TDAC guide walks through the form.

Patong is about 41 km and 50 minutes from the terminal. A metered taxi costs ฿600–700 on the meter plus a ฿100 airport fee, the fixed-fare counter charges ฿800 for a car for three, Grab shows about ฿750–950, and the ฿100 Smart Bus leaves every 30 minutes until 23:30 and takes about an hour and a half. Karon and Kata are 10 to 20 minutes further, about ฿1,000 by car. Our Phuket airport to Patong guide has every option beach by beach.

For Khao Lak, the counter's fixed fare is ฿1,800 for the 80 to 100 minute drive north. For Phi Phi, the ferries leave Rassada Pier, 40 to 55 minutes from the airport, between 08:30 and 15:30, so a morning flight from Singapore makes an afternoon boat. Our Phuket to Khao Lak and Phuket to Phi Phi guides have the times and fares.

Fly to Krabi Instead?

Only if you're starting in Ao Nang, Railay or Koh Lanta. Scoot is the one airline flying Singapore to Krabi nonstop, about eight times a week, and Jetstar Asia's Krabi flight ended with the airline. From Krabi airport a car to Ao Nang takes about 40 minutes for ฿700–800. For a Phuket hotel it makes no sense, because the drive between Phuket airport and Ao Nang takes about 2.5 hours. Our Krabi to Phuket guide has the boats and vans if you plan to do both.

Overland Through Malaysia

Possible, about a day, and only worth it if the ride is the point

There's no direct bus or train. The most practical overland route is a night coach from Singapore to Hat Yai, the big town just over the Thai border, and then a bus up the west coast. On 12Go, Sri Maju's evening coach leaves Grantral Mall in MacPherson and takes about 14 hours to Hat Yai for about ฿2,100, crossing at Bukit Kayu Hitam and Sadao. From Hat Yai, buses to Phuket take about 7.5 hours for ฿440–684. With the wait in between, that's about 24 hours for a trip the plane does in two, and it rarely saves money once you add a meal or two.

The train route runs through Kuala Lumpur and the border station at Padang Besar to Hat Yai, with a night on the way, and still ends with the same bus to Phuket. Our Singapore to Bangkok guide covers that line. For the border, Singapore citizens don't need Malaysia's MDAC arrival card, most other passports do, and you'll still file the TDAC for Thailand. Thailand caps visa-exempt land entries at two a calendar year, though that limit doesn't apply to ASEAN passports such as Singapore's.

By Sea, via Langkawi and Koh Lipe

No ferry runs from Singapore to Phuket. What does exist, from mid-October to May, is a two-day island route up the Andaman coast. AirAsia and Scoot fly Singapore to Langkawi, between them about 11 times a week, in about an hour and three quarters. From Langkawi, the 90-minute ferry to Koh Lipe runs from 15 October to 31 May, and you clear Thai immigration on the beach. From Lipe, Bundhaya's speedboat leaves Pattaya Beach at 09:00 and reaches Phuket's Rassada Pier at 14:30, ฿2,500, from mid-October to 20 May.

The ferry lands on Lipe around 10:00 Thai time and the immigration line can take an hour, so plan a night on the island. I'd only do this as a trip in itself, with a few days on Lipe, never as a way of getting to Phuket. Our Langkawi to Koh Lipe and Phuket to Koh Lipe guides have both boats in detail.

Phuket to Singapore

The same two airlines, and the hour you lose

Going back, Singapore Airlines and Scoot fly the same nonstops in reverse, 2 hours 5 minutes to 2 hours 35 minutes, and the clock jumps forward an hour, so an evening flight lands in Singapore close to midnight. The Scoot bag rule works the same way home, which matters if you've bought anything in Phuket.

Patong to the airport takes about 50 minutes outside the 16:00 to 19:00 rush, which can add 30 to 45 minutes, and the Smart Bus back runs from 06:00 to about 20:20 from Patong. I'd leave a west-coast beach with the rush hour in mind, not just the 50 minutes. From Khao Lak, book a car to the airport the night before and leave three and a half to four hours ahead.
