Sunset Beach

Sunset Beach sits on the western shore of Koh Lipe, a small island in the Andaman Sea within the Tarutao National Marine Park. True to its name, the beach faces directly west, making it one of the most popular spots on the island for watching the sun dip below the horizon. The atmosphere is noticeably quieter and more relaxed than Koh Lipe's busier Pattaya Beach, attracting visitors who prefer a slower pace and a more natural setting.

The beach features soft sand and generally calm, clear water, particularly during the dry season. Snorkeling is popular along the rocky edges of the bay, and longtail boats can be hired from the shore for island-hopping or transfers. A small number of beachside bars and bungalow resorts line the area, keeping the overall feel low-key rather than crowded or commercial.

The best time to visit Koh Lipe is between November and April, when the weather is dry and sea conditions are calm. Outside this window, the island effectively closes as rough seas make access difficult and many businesses shut for the low season. Sunset Beach is reachable on foot from the main Walking Street area, though the path can be uneven in places, so comfortable sandals are practical. Visitors arriving by ferry will land at a nearby point and can walk or take a short ride to the beach.
