Map Prachan Reservoir Park
Come here to move. The draw is a 10-kilometre circuit around the reservoir, including a stretch across the dam, on a lane that keeps motorbikes out entirely. That's rarer than it sounds in this part of Thailand, and it's why parents bring kids on bikes. The dam section is the roughest bit of road, so take it slowly with little ones. A few dogs wander about, though reviewers describe them as friendly.
Bikes can be hired from the shops opposite, and vendors, cafes and restaurants line the road alongside the track, selling fresh fruit and cold drinks. The grounds are kept clean and there are actual bins, which people notice. The water itself isn't especially clean, so treat this as a place to look at rather than swim in. Midday is punishing under that open sky. Early morning and the hour before sunset are when the runners and cyclists come out, and the track is lit after dark.

Reviews from Google
Excellent spot for walking, cycling and running. 10 km loop with cafes, restaurants and vendors around the road next to the cycling lane. Fairly clean and the cycling lane is safe with no motorcycles and only a few friendly dogs. No toilets I saw but two large carparks. Plenty of runners and cyclists morning and afternoon but very hot during the day.
Excellent cycle-running track, recently landscaped and well-lit in the evenings. If you complete a circuit across the dam it is about 10 kms round. Hugely popular at weekends with all three car parks busy, but plenty of other places to park all the way round. Can hire bikes at many of the shops opposite.
Nice and safe place to ride with kids, road is fine, excluding the section over the dam.

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Popular Activities Online
Booking platforms like GetYourGuide give you instant confirmation and, on many activities, free cancellation — and you can read recent reviews before committing. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
