Map Prachan Reservoir Park
Set in Bang Lamung District a short drive from central Pattaya, Map Prachan Reservoir Park is a well-maintained outdoor recreation area built around a large reservoir. The park is particularly popular for cycling, running, and walking, with a dedicated cycling lane that completes a full circuit across the dam and back — approximately 10 kilometres in total. The route is motorcycle-free, making it notably safer than many roadside cycling options in the region, and the park is well-lit in the evenings for those who prefer to visit after dark. The atmosphere is relaxed and genuinely local, with vendors, cafes, and restaurants lining the road alongside the cycling track. The grounds are kept clean, with rubbish bins available throughout — something visitors frequently note as a welcome rarity. Several spots around the reservoir offer pleasant views and opportunities for photography, and the open setting attracts birdlife that rewards quieter, more observant visitors. Weekends draw larger crowds, with all car parks filling quickly, so those seeking a quieter experience are better served by a weekday visit. The park operates around the clock every day, giving visitors flexibility to choose their timing. Early mornings offer cooler temperatures and calmer conditions, while evenings benefit from good lighting along the track. Comfortable shoes or cycling gear are recommended depending on planned activity, and bike rental options may be available nearby. The park works well as a half-day outing or a refreshing contrast to Pattaya's busier coastal attractions.

Visitor Reviews
Excellent spot for walking, cycling and running. 10 km loop with cafes, restaurants and vendors around the road next to the cycling lane. Fairly clean and the cycling lane is safe with no motorcycles and only a few friendly dogs. No toilets I saw but two large carparks. Plenty of runners and cyclists morning and afternoon but very hot during the day.
We thought we would spend an hour, 4 hours later we had exercised, relaxed, sat till sunst then went to local resturant I Steak, excellent good clean honest western and Thai food, prices from Bht89 to 350. Bike hire near by and local pop up shops for fresh fruit and ice cold drinks. Great few hours with the kids.
Excellent cycle-running track, recently landscaped and well-lit in the evenings. If you complete a circuit across the dam it is about 10 kms round. Hugely popular at weekends with all three car parks busy, but plenty of other places to park all the way round. Can hire bikes at many of the shops opposite.

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
