Map Prachan Reservoir Park

Come here to move. The draw is a 10-kilometer circuit around the reservoir, including a stretch across the dam, on a lane that keeps motorbikes out entirely. That's rarer than it sounds in this part of Thailand, and it's why parents bring kids on bikes. The dam section is the roughest bit of road, so take it slowly with little ones. A few dogs wander about, though reviewers describe them as friendly.

Bikes can be rented from the shops opposite, and vendors, cafes and restaurants line the road alongside the track, selling fresh fruit and cold drinks. The grounds are kept clean and there are actual bins, which people notice. The water itself isn't especially clean, so treat this as a place to look at rather than swim in. Midday is punishing under that open sky. Early morning and the hour before sunset are when the runners and cyclists come out, and the track is lit after dark.
