Kai Bae Viewpoint

Come for the last hour of daylight and you'll understand why this stop on the hillside road above Kai Bae stays busy. The view opens straight out over the Gulf of Thailand, with the small forested hump of Koh Man Nai sitting offshore and nothing in the way of the horizon. It's a short stop rather than a destination, but it's the one that ends up on everyone's camera roll from Koh Chang's west coast.

The monkeys are the other half of the story. They live here, they're used to people, and they know exactly what a plastic bag means. Keep snacks zipped away and don't feed them. That's not squeamishness, it's how you avoid a confrontation over your lunch. They're genuinely good to watch when you're not the target.

There's no gate and no fee, so you can turn up at any hour, though midday sun flattens the view and the color only really arrives late afternoon.
