Breakfast is the reason to come. A French bakery and market setup in Mae Haad, open from 7am every day, which puts it ahead of most of Koh Tao when you've got a morning dive boat to catch and want something better than instant coffee at the shop. Pastries, coffee, and a menu that keeps going until 10pm, so it works just as well for a late dinner after a day underwater.
It's casual rather than fancy, and the mid-range prices sit where you'd hope, more than a street plate of pad thai, nowhere near a resort restaurant. If you've been on the island a week and the fried rice is starting to blur together, this is the break. If you came to Thailand specifically to eat Thai food, I'd save it for a morning when you need a proper coffee and a sit down.
