Treat this as a day out, not a detour. The drive from Hua Hin runs to around three hours each way, which means leaving in the dark if you want the trails to yourself. People who arrive around 9am report having the place more or less empty, and that's the version you want.
The waterfall has 15 levels, but the park only lets you go as far as level 5. Stages 1 to 3 are fine for most people and take roughly 45 minutes to an hour. After that it turns into proper scrambling over rocks and tree roots, so if you're not steady on your feet, stop at 3 and swim there instead. Stages 3 and 5 are where everyone gets in the water, and the fish will come and investigate your legs. Butterflies too, even in the dry months. Rainy season means a heavier flow and a more dramatic scene, dry season means better footing. Both work.

Reviews from Google
Just returned from these national park falls and very happy to have got up a bit earlier and driven here from Hua Hin. Drive about 3 hours and arrived at 9am. First people to arrive and had it to ourselves. If you want to get the most from this trip bring/wear trainers as the terrain from level 3-5 can be quite challenging. You will need a reasonable level of fitness and agility to navigate the trails across rocks and rocky tree rooted trails. At all levels there are great photo opportunities and you can feed masses of fish (fish food bought at entrance) levels 1-2 are easy for most people but 3-5 (5 is top) requires a little agility and fitness.
Great national park with a nice hour long hike alongside the waterfall. The hike has five stages with 1 to 3 suitable for pretty much everyone. The last stages 4-5 requires some climbing and certainly decent footwear. Good for swimming with the fish. The popular swimming spots were at stages 3 and 5.
If you visit during the rainy season, the waterfall will have much stronger flow. Even in the dry season, this park is well worth hiking for its lovely fish and butterflies.
