Kochschule Hua Hin
Kochschule Hua Hin is a Thai cooking school run by instructor Gid, offering small-group classes that take participants through the full journey of Thai cuisine — from sourcing ingredients to sitting down to eat the dishes they have prepared together. The experience is conducted in a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere that appeals to both complete beginners and confident home cooks looking to deepen their understanding of Thai flavours and techniques. Each class typically begins with a guided visit to a local market, where Gid introduces participants to fresh produce, herbs, and ingredients that are central to Thai cooking. He explains the cultural and culinary significance of each item and encourages guests to sample things they might not otherwise try. The group then moves on to preparing and cooking a selection of Thai dishes, combining practical instruction with genuine hospitality. Visitors consistently highlight the personal attention, the depth of knowledge shared, and the sense of authentic connection to local food culture. The school's website is available in German, reflecting its strong appeal to German-speaking travellers, though the experience itself is accessible to a broader international audience. Given the small group format, booking ahead is strongly recommended to secure a place. The class covers both the market visit and cooking session, making it a substantial half-day or full-day activity — comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes are practical choices for moving between the market and the kitchen.

Visitor Reviews
We had a wonderful time with Gid, starting with our visit to the market, where Gid told us a lot about the produce and herbs, and we got to try quite a few things we might not have otherwise dared to try. Afterwards, we went to the cooking school and cooked together in a very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere, and then of course, ate. We laughed a lot and had an unforgettable time. I can highly recommend the cooking school to anyone interested in authentic cuisine, and I hope it wasn't my last visit. Many thanks again to Gid and his hardworking assistant Bee (?) behind the scenes 😊!
Authentic and superb cuisine! I attended the cooking class on January 4th, 2026, and found it fantastic as a hobby cook! It offered so much more than just shopping for ingredients; it also provided excellent preparation of amazing dishes. We received fantastic tips and expert knowledge. I can definitely recommend this cooking class. You'll be welcomed with open arms and will certainly expand your culinary skills. Really well done, keep it up! Andi
A fantastic day with Gid and his team. Starting with shopping at the local market, where we learned interesting facts about the produce, then cooking the selected dishes together, and finally enjoying a delicious meal together. All this in perfect Swiss German. We felt very welcome and highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys Thai cuisine. Thank you for the wonderful day!
Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
