Why go, and how to do it well
Ajarn Noo Kanpai is the sak yant master best known abroad for Angelina Jolie's tattoos. In the early 2000s he gave her the Hah Taew, five rows of script across her left shoulder blade, and later a large tiger, and those tattoos did more than anything else to make sak yant known outside Southeast Asia. He works from his shrine in Bang Kha Yaeng, in Pathum Thani province just north of Bangkok.
There's no booking website. He's reached through his Instagram and Facebook pages, so message ahead rather than turning up. It's a lay master's shrine rather than a temple, which means you can discuss the design, and his fame means it costs more than most. It's a long drive from central Bangkok, so plan the day around it.
