The Kromluang pier in Laem Ngop, southwest of Trat town, is where the speedboats to Koh Mak leave from. Koh Mak Ferry runs to Ao Nid pier at 11:30 all year, and Panan runs to Koh Mak Resort's pier on Ao Soun Yai in the afternoon, both for ฿550 a person, with children from 100 to 130 cm paying ฿350. The crossing takes about 50 minutes to an hour.
I'd use it if you're already in Trat or arriving by public bus, because the town is closer than Laem Sok. Book through your Koh Mak resort or the operators the day before, since the speedboat times change through the year.
