Bangkok to Koh Kood

An early bus to Trat and an hour on the catamaran

By Mac Kiley · 5 min read · Updated Oct 19, 2026

One Early Bus, One Boat

Koh Kood has no airport and no car ferry, so every trip from Bangkok is a road journey to Laem Sok pier near Trat and an hour on a catamaran to Ao Salad pier on the island. The simple way is Boonsiri's one ticket. Its bus leaves Khao San at 05:00, 07:00 and 09:00 and reaches Koh Kood at 11:45, 14:15 and 16:45 for ฿1,100, with the same fare from Suvarnabhumi airport. Seudamgo sells a van and catamaran for about the same.

The quick way is a Bangkok Airways flight to Trat and Boonsiri's airport van and boat, which lets you leave about three hours later for the same 11:45 arrival, at five or six times the price. I'd take the 05:00 bus and have the afternoon on the beach.

Fly to Trat and you're on the island by 11:45

This timetable runs October to May

Boonsiri prints a separate low-season timetable for June to September, when the sea is rougher, so check it if you're going in those months.

Koh Mak and Koh Chang are a boat away

Boonsiri's boats leave Koh Kood for Koh Mak at 11:00 and 14:45 (฿400) and for Koh Chang at the same times (฿900), so the three islands make one trip.

Boonsiri's Bus and Catamaran

Boonsiri runs the whole trip and it's the ticket I'd book. The bus leaves its Khao San office at 05:00, 07:00 and 09:00, drives about five and a half hours to Laem Sok pier south of Trat, and the catamaran lands at Ao Salad pier on Koh Kood at 11:45, 14:15 and 16:45, for ฿1,100. It also picks up at Suvarnabhumi airport at 05:30 and 09:00 for the same fare, at Don Mueang at 03:30, 05:15 and 08:00 for ฿1,350–1,400, and at Bangkok hotels from 04:15 for ฿1,250.

The early start is the price of an early arrival, and the 05:00 is the one that gives you most of a day on the island. Boonsiri also runs boats from Koh Kood to Koh Mak and Koh Chang, so a Koh Kood trip can join the other Trat islands without going back to the mainland. The timetable above runs from 1 October to 31 May.

Seudamgo and the Other Van Tickets

Seudamgo sells a van from Bangkok to Laem Sok and its own catamaran to Ao Salad, and its boats are kept for these package passengers. Its own site prints no times or fares, so these come from 12Go. Vans leave Khao San at 05:00 and 07:30 and Suvarnabhumi at 08:50, reaching Koh Kood at about 13:00 to 16:20 with a shared drop at your hotel, for about ฿1,260.

The independent way is a government bus from Ekkamai to Trat town, leaving through the day from about 05:00 for about ฿315, then a taxi to Laem Sok pier for one of Boonsiri's sailings at 10:45, 13:15 or 15:45, ฿550 for the boat. It's cheaper only if you'd rather sort out the connections yourself.

Flying to Trat

Bangkok Airways flies Suvarnabhumi to Trat in about an hour. The 08:10 lands at 09:10 and the 12:45 at 13:45, and Boonsiri's airport van and boat leaves Trat airport at 09:40 and 14:30 and lands at Koh Kood at 11:45 and 16:45, for ฿950. Fares on 12Go were about ฿5,400–5,600 for a November weekday, so the flight is worth it mainly if you're coming off a long-haul arrival and want the island by lunchtime.

Koh Kood to Bangkok

Going back, Boonsiri's catamarans leave Ao Salad at 09:00, 12:00 and 14:30, and its buses reach Khao San at 17:30, 19:30 and 22:00 for ฿1,100. The same boats connect with buses to Suvarnabhumi, arriving at 16:30, 18:30 and 21:30 for ฿1,100, and to Don Mueang at 19:00, 21:00 and 23:00 for ฿1,350–1,400. For a flight from Suvarnabhumi the same evening, the 09:00 boat is the safe one.

To fly from Trat, Boonsiri's 14:30 boat and van reaches Trat airport at 17:00 for ฿950. The boat alone to Laem Sok is ฿550, leaving at 09:00, 12:00 and 14:30 and arriving an hour later.
