Prasat Ta Muen

Prasat Ta Muen is a collection of ancient Khmer temple ruins situated along the Dongrak Mountain range on the border between Thailand and Cambodia, in Surin Province. Dating back to the Angkor period, the complex is believed to have served as a rest stop and medical station for pilgrims and travelers making their way along an ancient royal road. The stonework and architectural details reflect the craftsmanship characteristic of Khmer temple construction, making it a rewarding site for those interested in pre-Angkorian and Angkorian history and culture.

Visitors can expect a relatively remote and quiet atmosphere, with the ruins set amid natural surroundings that add to the sense of discovery. The site consists of multiple structures in varying states of preservation, allowing visitors to observe original stonework and carvings up close. Comfortable walking shoes and sun protection are recommended, as the grounds involve uneven terrain and limited shade. Visiting during the cooler dry season, between November and February, offers the most comfortable conditions.
