Why go, and how to do it well
Come for the photos. That's the honest pitch here, and there's nothing wrong with it. The whole place is built as a castle, all ornate facades and decorative detail, which makes it a strange and welcome break from the temple circuit in Buriram province. Families take their time with it. Couples do too. If you want history and inscriptions, this isn't that, and I'd point you toward the province's Khmer sites instead.
My advice is to go late. The doors stay open until 21:00 every day, and an evening visit means you're wandering the grounds without the afternoon sun flattening everything. It also means whatever lighting is up gets to do its job. Give yourself an hour, maybe a little more if you're the sort who circles back for a second angle.
