Khlong Bang Luang Market
Tucked away along the canals of the Phasi Charoen district, Khlong Bang Luang is one of Bangkok's quieter market destinations, offering a genuine slice of traditional Thai community life away from the more tourist-heavy areas of the city. Canalside walkways connect a mix of art galleries, artist studios, craft stalls, and casual eateries, with boat vendors selling noodle dishes directly from the water. The goods on offer here tend to differ from the typical Bangkok market fare, making it a worthwhile stop for those looking for something more distinctive. The atmosphere is relaxed and unhurried, drawing visitors who come to browse handmade crafts, participate in art workshops, or simply sit by the canal with a coffee or snack. Several cafes and small restaurants line the waterfront, and the artist houses double as creative spaces where visitors can observe or join in with painting and other activities. The market sits close to Wat Paknam, home to the well-known large golden Buddha, making it easy to combine both into a single half-day outing. The market is open daily from 09:30 to 18:30, so a morning visit is a good way to enjoy the cooler part of the day before the afternoon heat sets in. Getting there requires a little more effort than central Bangkok attractions, but that distance is part of what keeps it calm and uncrowded. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended, as the canalside paths can be uneven in places.

Visitor Reviews
Khlong Bang Luang is a small, peaceful community filled with charm and a strong sense of traditional Thai identity. There are many activities to enjoy, such as painting, art workshops, and making handmade gift items, which make it a lovely place to slow down and explore. You can also take a boat ride along the canal to enjoy the scenery of traditional wooden houses and the quiet, simple lifestyle of the local community. If you continue along the route, you’ll pass Wat Bang Phai, home to a large and impressive Buddha statue that stands out beautifully. The atmosphere here feels a bit like Amphawa, but much closer to Bangkok. Even though it’s not a floating market, Khlong Bang Luang is a small community area that offers a great opportunity to learn about local culture and experience a calm, authentic side of Thailand
This is one of the better floating markets to visit in the city (though floating is a bit of a misnomer, its just a market alongside the river) as its a bit out of the way and in one of the quieter districts of the city. Tons of great shops (be sure to check out the Artist House) and restaurants long the bank. Easy access with a short walk from the Blue Line.
Lovely little market off the beaten track so isn't too crowded. There are temples, food/drink places, some stalls (which had different to the usual Thailand Market goods for sale), boat rides and some good views. Would recommend!

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping
Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
