Why go, and how to do it well
Bang Bao is a fishing village built on stilts along a long pier at the southwest tip of Koh Chang, at the end of the west-coast road. The pier is lined with seafood restaurants over the water, souvenir shops and dive schools, and it's where the snorkeling boats to Koh Rang and Koh Wai and Boonsiri's catamarans to Koh Mak and Koh Kood leave from.
I'd come in the late afternoon, walk the pier, swim at Klong Kloi just east of it, and stay for dinner over the water. It's busy in the high season and very quiet in the low one.
