The Elephant Trails บ้านทางช้างผ่าน
Nestled in Tambon Chong Sadao on the outskirts of Kanchanaburi town, The Elephant Trails operates as a guesthouse and leisure retreat that caters primarily to groups and families seeking a relaxed base in the region. The property features vintage-inspired decor and a laid-back atmosphere that visitors consistently highlight as one of its stronger qualities, along with staff who are noted for being attentive and accommodating. The accommodation includes a large three-storey guesthouse with three bedrooms across the upper floor, each with its own bathroom, a communal hall, living room, and dining area on the second floor, and a karaoke room that guests have praised as a standout feature. The surrounding setting offers pleasant views and a peaceful ambience suited to unwinding after exploring the wider Kanchanaburi area. Prospective visitors should be aware that the property appears to operate multiple accommodation buildings, and some reviewers travelling in large groups have noted inconsistencies between promotional images and the actual condition of certain rooms. It is advisable to confirm room availability, specific building assignments, and current facilities directly with the property before booking, particularly for larger groups or families with young children. Parents should note that beds on the upper floor are reported to be quite high, which may warrant extra caution for young children overnight.

Visitor Reviews
Cool view and chill atmosphere.
Big house, 3rd floor, has 3 bedrooms, each room has a bathroom. The bed is quite high, be careful of children falling out of bed while sleeping. The 2nd floor is a hall, a living room, a dining room, a TV, a karaoke room, a private swimming pool with a river view, and downstairs there is a jacuzzi for soaking in. Very natural in the rainy season, with the sound of birds chirping. If you're lucky, you might see elephants playing in the water on the opposite bank. Suitable for families.
First of all, the 2 stars are for the overall atmosphere and the staff who are the real deal. Our group was a large family of 22 with many children, and we had to open our guest house, which is located not far from the main house. This wasn't a problem, but the problems were: 1. The guest house was in poor condition and needed immediate renovation. It was worse than a 300 baht rental room. They shouldn't even claim to have a guest house in addition to the main house, which was uninhabitable. Our group solved the problem by adding a mattress in the living room on the second floor, making it feel like we were camping. 2. The next problem was that the bathroom on the second floor didn't have a shower room. We had to use the bathroom on the third floor, in all three bedrooms. The first floor didn't have a shower room. After swimming, we had to walk through the first and second floors to shower on the third floor. Another problem was that the house was made of wood, and the floor was dripping water onto the lower floors. At first, we thought the air conditioner was leaking. 😂 3. The bathroom fixtures in the house need to be replaced or repaired immediately. The curtain rod was a bit loose, and the bathtub was unusable. Water dripping downstairs is so entertaining. Not to mention the tub, even the shower in the bathroom is splashing everywhere. Ouch! 😂 4. This is absolutely irresistible. A snake, you heard me right, appeared in the bathroom. In the third-floor bedroom, there was a lot of catching and catching. And a gecko. I can only hear the sound, no pictures. I feel like a disaster victim. ✌️✌️That's all I can say. I want to tell the owner: the location is great, the view is great. I saw a celebrity own it. Please fix it quickly. I feel sorry for the staff. I'm sure they have to deal with customers' moods often in this condition. Check out our reviews before deciding. ✌️✌️
Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
