Bueng Bua Wood Boardwalk(Thung Sam Roi Yot)

Get here soon after the 8am opening. This is a raised timber walkway over a lotus marsh inside Sam Roi Yot National Park, and it puts you in the middle of a wetland you could never cross on foot. Water on both sides, reeds and native marsh plants, open stretches where the lotus flowers sit on the surface. It's flat, it's shaded in parts, and it doesn't take long. That's the appeal.

Birdlife is the main event, with monitor lizards turning up along the edges. Wildlife is more active in the cool of the morning and the light is kinder then too, which matters if you've brought a camera. Afternoons are hotter and quieter on the wildlife front, though the walk itself still works. Families do fine here, since there's no scrambling involved and the whole thing is a gentle stroll rather than a hike. I'd pair it with something else in the park rather than driving out from Hua Hin for this alone.
