Japa Tour Company
Based in Mae Yao, Chiang Rai, Japa Tour Company is a tour and travel agency specialising in personalised experiences across northern Thailand. The agency offers a range of itineraries including multi-day jungle treks, cultural immersion tours, and private transport arrangements, making it a practical choice for both adventurous travellers and families exploring the region. Visitors consistently praise the agency's flexibility and responsiveness, with guides noted for strong English communication and a willingness to tailor trips to individual preferences. Family-friendly treks have included hands-on activities such as traditional cooking with locals, bamboo cooking techniques, and chopstick making. The jungle trek and survival tours cover significant distances on foot — one reviewer noted approximately 13 kilometres on the first day — so participants should be prepared for moderate to strenuous activity. Private transfers to destinations such as Chiang Mai can also be arranged, with the agency known for organising comfortable, reliable transport on short notice via WhatsApp. As a practical note, Japa Tour caters well to last-minute bookings and custom requests, so travellers who haven't planned their itinerary in advance can still reach out directly through their website or messaging apps. Those considering multi-day tours should review the full itinerary details on the agency's website, as experiences can vary between days — particularly for river-based activities. Comfortable walking shoes and appropriate clothing for jungle conditions are advisable for trekking tours.

Visitor Reviews
We booked a 2 Days 1 Night Jungle Trek and Survival Tour. Everything was well organized, the guide was very friendly and good English speaking person! On the first day we trekked for about 13km through the jungle, we made a break to swim in a creek and had some lunch with some local rice farmer on the way up to the mountain. Later we were lucky to find some Turtle mushrooms, which are quite rare in that area. We spend a night with his family in the village and cooked a tasty dinner from the collected mushrooms! The accommodation was basic but clean and the family were very good hosts. On the next day we continued our trekking. We learned how to build cups and chop sticks from bamboo trees and prepared our own food using traditional bamboo cooking techniques in the middle of a green rice field. Finally we arrived the hot springs to relax from those days and returned to Chiang Rai. Over all there was nothing to complain! It was a great experience! Thank you all at Japa Tours for this trip!
We went for a 1 day private trip to mountain areas of Chiang rai with Jong from Japa tours. We had spoken to multiple tour companies before we booked Japa as they were very flexible about what we wanted to see, gave us suggestions and made an excellent itenerary for us. Jong took us to see Long neck Karen village , Choui Fong tea plantations then headed towards Doi tung villa and gardens. Jong explained the history of the place patiently and in English. He dropped us to Central mall on the way back as we wanted a mall shopping experience in Chiang rai. I would highly recommend japa tours -go ahead without much thought as they are an amazing company and have wonderful customised tours.
Fabulous, very good experience of a 2-day family trek with 3 children (7,12,14 years old). Discovery of local culture, traditional cooking with the locals and cooking with bamboo. Make chopsticks, spoons, cups. We loved this unique experience. Our guide was perfect. I recommend Japa tours without hesitation.
Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
