Phasoet Hot Spa

4.1(622 reviews)

Located in the Doi Hang area roughly 20 minutes from Chiang Rai's city centre, this geothermal attraction offers a laid-back hot spring experience drawing on natural mineral-rich waters. The facility features a communal swimming pool, private hot mineral pools, and a foot bath area, with new Japanese onsen-style private rooms currently under construction. A notable novelty on site is the opportunity to boil eggs directly in the hot spring water — a popular activity with both local visitors and travellers.

The atmosphere here is casual and nature-oriented rather than resort-style, and the experience reflects that honestly. The mineral water carries a mild sulphurous scent, a reassuring sign of authentic geothermal sourcing. The communal pool can get busy at peak times, so visitors who prefer a quieter soak may find the private pools a worthwhile upgrade. The surrounding scenery makes the drive out from Chiang Rai pleasant in its own right.

Reviews from Google

A very relaxing hot spring experience only a 20 mins drive from Chiang Rai downtown. The facilities are very new and well maintained, and new private rooms are being built in a Japanese onsen style. I particularly like the use of stone as surface instead of sand because it is more gentle to the fabric of swimming suit. The public bath is being renovated. Water temperature is not totally hot. It's warm enough to be used on its own without the need to mix with cold water.

The hot springs themselves aren't that good. It's just a somewhat warm pool for 30 Baht. There is a small foot bath, private rooms, & vendors selling food. You can get eggs that you then boil in a hotter tank. Would not recommend it except for the drive. Beautiful landscapes along the river & through a few small villages.

I went here part of a trekking tour to end the day. It was nice to dip my feet in the foot bath area. The pool looked too busy for me so I didn't go in. There is also an area you can cook eggs which is somewhat interesting

Tips for Visiting Wellness & Spas

Learn Wat Pho First

Wat Pho in Bangkok is the birthplace of traditional Thai massage education. Their on-site massage pavilion offers excellent treatments from students and graduates at reasonable prices — and you know the technique is authentic.

Communicate Pressure Preferences

Thai massage can be intense. Say 'bao bao' for lighter pressure or 'nак nак' for harder. A good therapist will check in, but don't hesitate to speak up — suffering in silence defeats the purpose.

Book Longer Sessions

A 60-minute massage is fine, but 90 or 120 minutes allows the therapist to work thoroughly. The price difference is often only 200–400 THB for an extra hour — worth it for a deeper, more relaxing experience.
