The gilded chedi is the reason to come. It rises above the rest of the complex and there's a viewing level partway up, which gives you the temple precinct laid out below and a decent look across this part of Udon Thani. That alone justifies twenty minutes out of your morning.
This is a royal temple and a working one, so what you're seeing isn't staged for anybody. Shrine halls, monks going about their day, people bringing offerings. Come early and you'll catch the grounds at their quietest and coolest. If you're in Udon Thani for the Ban Chiang museum or waiting on a bus, this fills a gap better than most things in town. Don't expect a long visit. It's a temple, not an afternoon out.
