This is the kind of place you settle into rather than pop by. It sits right on the sand at Sai Kaew, part of the Sai Kaew Beach Resort, and it works best if you treat it as a base for the afternoon, for lunch, a swim, a drink as the light goes, then dinner without moving more than a few meters. If you're after a quick cheap plate of pad kra pao, walk into the village instead. You're paying mid-range prices here for the beach and the service that comes with it, and that trade is either worth it to you or it isn't.
The crowd is a mix of resort guests and people wandering along from elsewhere on Sai Kaew, which is the busiest stretch of beach on the island. Weekends and Thai holidays fill it up, so my advice is to turn up earlier in the day and claim your spot rather than rock up at sunset expecting a front-row table.
