Emerald Pool
Set within a national park in Khlong Thom District, the Emerald Pool is a natural spring-fed swimming spot where mineral-rich water creates a distinctive emerald-green colour against a backdrop of dense rainforest. The surrounding jungle paths add to the sense of discovery, and many visitors combine the trip with a visit to the nearby Blue Pool. The relatively natural, undeveloped setting gives it a character quite different from Krabi's coastal attractions. The journey to the pool is part of the experience. Visitors can choose between two marked routes from the park entrance — a nature trail through dense vegetation or a shorter path — though some sections involve uneven terrain and, for those continuing to the Blue Pool, more physically demanding climbs. The atmosphere is peaceful, particularly in the early hours, when the water is at its clearest and crowds are thinner. Good to know: Entry requires a national park fee of 400 baht per person, payable at the entrance. Sturdy footwear is essential, as the paths involve rocks and uneven surfaces — sandals are not recommended. Facilities on-site are limited, so bring water, snacks, and sun protection. The site is best reached by organised tour or private transport. Arriving early in the morning is strongly recommended to secure a quieter experience and better water visibility before day-trip groups arrive.

Visitor Reviews
Emerald Pool – A Must-Visit Natural Experience (Go Early!) Emerald Pool is a beautiful natural attraction and definitely a must-visit for both kids and adults. My biggest recommendation: go early. The gates open at 8:30 AM, and visiting in the morning makes a huge difference. By afternoon, it becomes very hot and extremely crowded, which takes away from the overall experience. From the main gate, there are two walking routes to reach the Emerald Pool: 800 meters – shorter and quicker 1000 meters – slightly longer but far more scenic and beautiful 👉 I strongly recommend choosing the 1000-meter walk, as it offers a much nicer nature trail and a more enjoyable experience. Inside the Emerald Pool compound, there are three pools: Emerald Pool – the only pool where swimming or bathing is allowed Blue Pool and Crystal Pool – strictly for viewing and photography only (no swimming) The trail from Emerald Pool to Blue Pool feels like a jungle walk and is very pleasant, especially for nature lovers. The entire area is clean and well maintained. There are clean changing rooms available, so don’t forget to carry your swimming clothes. Important things to note: Entry fee: 200 THB per person Personal food is not allowed inside the premises There is one snack and drinks shop inside, but unfortunately, the owner was quite rude, which slightly affected the experience. Overall, Emerald Pool is a wonderful natural attraction and truly a must-visit, especially for families. Plan it early, take the scenic route, and enjoy the calm beauty before the crowds arrive. ⭐ Highly recommended for all age groups!
Visiting the Emerald Pool in Krabi was an exceptionally memorable experience that combined natural beauty with a profound sense of tranquility. Nestled deep within a lush rainforest, the journey to the pool itself was as captivating as the destination, with wooden walkways winding through dense vegetation and the sounds of wildlife accompanying every step. What struck me most was the extraordinary clarity and color of the water. The pool shimmered in varying shades of turquoise and emerald, creating an almost surreal atmosphere that felt untouched by modern life. Swimming in the warm, mineral-rich water was both refreshing and therapeutic, offering a rare moment of complete relaxation and connection with nature. Beyond its visual appeal, the Emerald Pool left a lasting impression due to its serene environment and well-preserved ecosystem. The experience was not merely about sightseeing; it was an immersion into a peaceful natural sanctuary that encouraged mindfulness and appreciation for Thailand’s remarkable biodiversity.
A very special experience! We visited the Emerald Pool and Blue Pool. Upon arrival you have to pay the entrance fee to the national park, then make your way through the jungle paths leading to the Emerald Pool and Blue Pool. Luckily we chose a day that wasn’t too crowded, we arrived around 1 pm and most of the crowds had been gone already. There is a small cafe at the Emerald Pool, which you can also swim in. Showers and toilets are available nearby. The Blue Pool is stunning, deep blue water (no, it’s not a filter in those pictures!) and right in the middle of the jungle. Be aware that for theue Pool you must take a short walk right through the jungle.
Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
