Why go, and how to do it well
Koh Rawi is the second big island of the Adang group, an uninhabited, jungle-covered stretch of national park west of Koh Adang. There is no village and nowhere to stay, so the only way to see it is by boat from Koh Lipe, on the longer of the longtail snorkeling trips that the beach operators sell as the far islands. On those days Rawi's white beaches are often the quietest stop of the trip, and the reef starts a short swim from the sand.
The far-islands day usually runs six to eight hours and pairs Rawi with smaller islets such as Koh Yang and Koh Hin Ngam. A private longtail costs more but lets you choose the order and arrive before the shared boats. Take water, shade and reef-safe sunscreen; there is nothing to buy on the island.

Check Island Closures
Similan Islands, Surin Islands, and Koh Tachai close mid-May to mid-October. Some smaller islands reduce ferry service in monsoon season. Always verify schedules before planning your route.
Snorkel Gear Is Cheap to Buy
Rental gear is often scratched and ill-fitting. Buy a decent mask and snorkel at a Big C for 300–500 THB — cheaper than two days of rentals and much more hygienic.
Bring Cash to Smaller Islands
ATMs on smaller islands like Koh Kood, Koh Mak, and Koh Yao charge high fees and sometimes run out of cash. Withdraw enough on the mainland before heading over.
