Ploy Resort Kanchanaburi
Ploy Resort sits along the famous Maenamkwai Road in the heart of Kanchanaburi, offering a quietly intimate base for travellers exploring one of Thailand's most historically rich regions. The riverside setting keeps things peaceful despite the central location, with the Bridge over the River Kwai and the town's war museums and restaurants all within easy reach on foot. Rooms are clean and comfortable, and the small pool area draws particular praise from guests for its relaxed, unhurried atmosphere. The resort is notably pet-friendly, welcoming small and medium dogs for a modest surcharge of 100 Thai baht per dog — a genuine rarity in the region. Staff consistently receive strong mentions in guest feedback, with reception described as attentive and helpful. An on-site restaurant offers breakfast with river views, making for a pleasant start to the day before heading out to explore. Several guests have enjoyed the stay enough to extend it. Good to know: Kanchanaburi's cool season, running from November through February, brings the most comfortable temperatures and the highest visitor numbers, so booking ahead is advisable during this period. The resort's location on Maenamkwai Road puts it within walking distance of a solid selection of bars and restaurants, meaning a hire car is not essential for those staying in the immediate area. The official website at ployresorts.com can be used to check current availability and rates before arrival.

Visitor Reviews
Great little resort stunning location with a lovely little pool. Rooms are clean and all you need for a short stay. Staff are excellent the young lady on reception was brilliant and sorted any issues and booked tour boat pick up from the resort plus they have their own tuk tuk which good as local tuk tuks are hard to find compared to most places in thailand. Overall a very nice stay and will definitely return when in the area... The only negative is Kanchanaburi area its self we last visited 27 years ago and it was lovely. However we we're surprised how nothing has improved in fact its probably gone worse alot of the museums are very run down and the area very dirty for.such a tourist area...
I called in today as a friend from Canada ( Kevin ) recommended the food The restaurant has a lovely view but only serves breakfast While I was there I talked to Bee ( staff ) who was very helpful & showed me the rooms - river view best & all rooms comfortable & good space It’s a good feeling there & I hope to return as visitor soon
I loved Ploy Resort so much I extended my stay. The rooms are lovely and the pool area is amazingly peaceful. It's also in the main area for bars and restaurants so you have plenty of choice within walking distance. All the staff and have been great, Bee in particular has really looked after me and has been amazing.
Tips for Visiting Hotels & Resorts
Book Shoulder Season
May–June and September–October offer dramatic discounts (30–50% off peak rates) with fewer crowds. Weather is mixed but rarely a washout — afternoon showers clear quickly.
Compare OTAs and Direct Rates
Always check the hotel's own website after finding a rate on Agoda or Booking.com. Many Thai properties offer a best-rate guarantee or throw in perks like free breakfast when you book direct.
Pool Villa Doesn't Mean Expensive
Private pool villas in Krabi, Hua Hin, and Chiang Mai start around 2,500–4,000 THB/night — a fraction of Bali or Maldives prices. Search specifically for 'pool villa' to surface hidden gems.
