Why go, and how to do it well
Go early or go late. This is a city park in the middle of Korat, on Chumphon Road, and between about ten and four the heat flattens it. Turn up at six in the morning or around dusk and it's a different place entirely, with walkers doing laps, people stretching in groups, kids let loose, the whole slice-of-local-life thing that no amount of temple-hopping will give you.
I wouldn't build a day around it. There's no big attraction here, no ticket, nothing to line up for. What you get is a bit of green, some paths to stroll, and a bench to sit on while the city carries on around you. That's the appeal. If you're staying in the inner city and want half an hour that isn't traffic and shophouses, it does the job nicely, and it costs nothing.
