Archaeological Site Banprasat

Situated in Nakhon Ratchasima province, this archaeological site offers a rare window into prehistoric life in northeast Thailand. Ban Prasat is recognized as one of the region's most significant archaeological discoveries, where excavations have uncovered human skeletal remains, pottery, bronze ornaments, and other artifacts dating back over 3,000 years. Visitors can explore three open excavation pits where skeletal remains and burial artifacts are preserved in situ, allowing for an unusually direct and unmediated encounter with the past. The site is open every day of the week from 08:00 to 16:30, giving visitors a generous window to explore at their own pace. As the site involves outdoor excavation areas, lightweight, breathable clothing and sun protection are strongly recommended, particularly during the hotter months between March and May. The location sits along Thanon Mittraphap in Amphoe Non Sung, making it accessible by road from Korat city, though having private transport or arranging a day trip in advance will make the journey considerably easier.
