Khlong Chak Waterfall

Tucked into the interior of Ko Lanta Yai, this waterfall sits within a national park and offers a genuine escape from the island's coastal bustle. The surrounding jungle keeps the atmosphere cool and shaded, and the natural pools below the cascade provide a refreshing swim away from the crowded beaches. For visitors who have already explored the standard resort experience, it represents a worthwhile half-day detour into the island's quieter, greener landscape.

The trail to reach the waterfall is well marked but uneven, with wet rocks and muddy sections that require solid footwear. The hike itself is moderately challenging rather than a casual stroll. Hiring a guide at the parking area costs 200 baht — the same price as the standard entrance fee — and includes a tour of the surrounding area covering tarantula nests, insects, a cave, and multiple routes to the waterfall, making it better value than entering independently.

Entry costs 200 baht per person, though visitors who have already paid to enter the Mu Ko Lanta National Park elsewhere on the island can show proof of that visit to avoid paying again. The park ticket should be kept, as it also allows re-entry to other park sites. Water levels are highest during and just after the rainy season (May to October), which is the best time to visit for a full flow and deeper swimming pools. There are no facilities on site, so bringing water, snacks, and a change of clothes is strongly recommended. Getting here requires a scooter rental or local taxi from the main parts of Ko Lanta.
