About Laem Sok Pier

Laem Sok is the pier on the Trat coast where Boonsiri's catamarans leave for Koh Mak and Koh Kood. In the October to May timetable, boats leave for Koh Mak at 10:30, 13:15 and 15:30 and for Koh Kood at 10:45, 13:15 and 15:45, both for ฿550, and the morning boat reaches Koh Mak in about 45 minutes. Boonsiri's buses from Bangkok and vans from Trat airport connect with them, so most people arrive here on a through ticket.

If you're coming independently, I'd aim for the morning boat and leave time for the drive, because the pier is about 40 minutes from Trat town and there's no regular public transport to it.

Tips for Visiting Transportation

Rent Scooters Carefully

Always photograph the scooter's existing damage before riding off, and keep your passport — give a photocopy instead (some shops insist on the original; avoid these). Wear a helmet; police fine 500 THB for no helmet and accidents without one void insurance.
