Halfmoon Festival is Koh Phangan's produced party, a purpose-built jungle amphitheater inland from Ban Tai — currently styled the Magical Forest — that stages festival-grade nights roughly twice a month, a week either side of the full moon. Where Haad Rin is beautiful chaos, Halfmoon is curated, with proper staging and lasers through the trees, UV-painted crowds, international and resident DJs running harder electronic lines, and ticketed entry that keeps numbers to festival-comfortable rather than beach-overwhelming.
For many visitors it ends up the better night — the production values are real, the jungle setting is genuinely atmospheric, and its calendar means a one-week trip that misses the full moon usually catches a Halfmoon instead. Shuttles and songthaews run from across the island; the site is ten minutes inland from the Ban Tai strip.
