Big C Supercenter Ubon Ratchathani

This is where you go when the packing list has holes in it. Sunscreen, mosquito repellent, snacks for a long bus ride, a phone charger, a towel that isn't the sad one from the guesthouse. It's a branch of the Big C hypermarket chain, so you already know the shape of it, with groceries and fresh produce on one side, clothing and electronics and household bits on the other, all of it air-conditioned and clearly signposted.

I'd treat it as a supply run rather than a day out. There's a food court and a scatter of smaller shops near the entrance if you want something cheap to eat while you're there, but nobody comes to Ubon for the hypermarket. What it does well is save you money and time before you head off to the temples or out toward the Mekong, where prices climb and choice thins out fast.
