Wat Boon Night Market

This is the everyday kind of night market, the one people in Korat actually shop at after work, not a set piece built for tour groups. That's the appeal and also the limit. If you want souvenirs and craft stalls, you'll be disappointed. If you want to eat cheaply, wander a few rows of food stalls and snack vendors, and watch a provincial capital go about its evening, it does the job well.

It runs on Chumphon Road, close to the center, so it's an easy walk or a short ride from most places you'd be staying in the city. My advice is to turn up not long after five, when the stalls are set and the aisles still have room to move. By seven or eight it thickens up considerably, which some people enjoy and others find a lot after a long day on the road. Either way, go hungry and eat as you walk rather than looking for somewhere to sit.
